PROGRAMME here

Within the DISKURS programme of the CTM Festival, Norient was kindly invited to curate half of the discourse programme out of their worldwide network and invites to experience the key questions of «Seismographic Sounds» project from different perspectives. In different formats such as video clip sessions, panel debates and a music films, international guests discuss about ethical boarders in working with local sounds, Postcolonialism and new strategies of researching music today. Norient understands the curated discourse programme as the live-element as part of the exhibition and book „Seismographic Sounds – Visions of a New World“ and links it to the motto of CTM festival 2016 „New Geographies“.

«Seismographic Sounds – Visions of a New World» is a multi-authored exhibition curated by the international, Switzerland-based network Norient - Network for Local and Global Sounds and Media Culture. 250 artists, musicians, academics and bloggers from Bolivia, Pakistan, Nigeria, Switzerland and 50 other countries introduce to distinct music, sounds, sound art and music videos. Produced in oftentimes small studios from Jakarta to La Paz, Cape Town to Helsinki, these works experiment with the possibilities of the Internet age and illuminate new spaces beyond the confines of commercialism, propaganda, and bigotry. They foresee a changing geography of multi-layered modernities, far beyond old ideas of North versus South, West versus East.

RELEASE: JPattersson - Progadub (Acker)

It‘s Dub, but reverberating far beyond the genre‘s borders. It has a summer Reggae vibe, but doesn‘t sound like just another chapter of that good, old story. It‘s perfidiously dope, but at the same time extremely danceable. It has clever lyrics, but it‘s all about the sound. It‘s what JPattersson describes as PROGaDUB – because he‘s not from Jamaica, he‘s from East Germany. Inspired by heavyweight bass lines, bicycle rides and Caribbean riddims, by chocolate, vintage groovebox sounds and the carefree ruckus of kids playing on the street, the young talent delivers an album that is chiefly progressive and diverse.
